Like Grace, Arlene Kay retained her sense of humor despite spending 20 years as a Senior Executive with the Treasury Department. She thrived and survived in the ultimate bureaucracy by living a rich interior life where murder and mayhem reigned supreme. Arlene proudly proclaims that she is not an accountant, although she nourishes a deep and abiding respect for the land of the green eyeshades. She worked in the very same places where Grace has her adventures and remembers them fondly. Like her protagonist she believes that fun is where you find it. Even Government work is filled with mirth, most of it unintentional. Ultimately, Arlene fled the Tax Agency and took refuge on Cape Cod in that bluest of blue states. She expects to be audited any day.
